This week all our EYFS Parents had the opportunity to meet with their child’s class teacher for their first Parent/Teacher meetings. During these meeting, you would have had the chance to talk with the class teacher about your child’s progress and how to support them in their next steps. At Britannica, it is important for us to work collaboratively with home school links to ensure your child gets the best out of their education. We hope you found your meetings useful and key information about your child was shared and discussed.
As always, please do keep looking at your child’s Learning Journal on Tapestry as this too will keep you informed about your child’s learning. It is always a great tool to help support your child talking at home about what they have done at school. Please do sit down with your child, at home, and look through their Tapestry Learning Journal together.
In class, there has been a variety of activities taking place. Please see below the key learning in each year group:
Pre-Nursery have enjoyed identifying their peers through interactive songs and games, where they have learnt to use their name and others in the class. This is a key development stage for children at this age as it helps them identify peers they would like to play with.
Nursery have been looking at self-care through taking care of babies, learning about washing hands and sequencing key health routines we do daily. Being able to identify these routines gives children the ability and ownership of their own self-care and gives more independence in their daily life.
There has been a monkey, a gorilla and an octopus in Reception as the children have been learning the new sounds ‘m’, ‘g’, ‘o’. They have used these new sounds along with previously learnt sound to begin to learn blending and segmenting simple CVC words. While in mathematics counting fixed objects and actions has been on the agenda.
Next week will be our final week of the first topics this year. Do keep an eye out for information from class teachers about the new topics coming up after the October holiday.
