Dear Parents,
My name is Anthony O’Brien and I feel privileged to become the new Head of Secondary at Britannica International School, Shanghai. Please allow me to introduce myself.
I will join Britannica from Bucharest, Romania where I spent the past 12 years as an educator and Deputy Head of Secondary in leading British international schools. During those years, I taught many different students with wide and diverse nationalities and backgrounds.
Having graduated from St Mary's University London with a BSc Hons in Sports Science I then completed my PGCSE in Secondary at the University of Wales, Cardiff. Since qualifying as a teacher, I have gained over 20 years of teaching experience, having taught in Kuwait, Venezuela, China (Beijing) and Romania. For the past 5 years, I have been teaching Sociology, Psychology and Humanities, mainly at IGCSE and A-Level.
Being an educational leader is my passion. Inspiring, guiding and supporting each child is my primary goal. Most importantly, the success of every child’s education depends largely on the relationship between home and school. Collaborating with parents to foster growth, I believe we are able create lifelong learners who are curious contributors to society. Through regular communication with the current school leadership team, I have been impressed with the rich tradition of student success at Britannica and look forward to supporting the thriving programs that make the school so special.
I am excited to join the team of highly qualified and dedicated teachers, staff, students and parents. The dedication to education at Britannica is very evident, even from the position of an observer.
I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you and give my best wishes for the remainder of the academic year.
