It may have been very rainy this week, but we have not let the weather dampen our spirits in Primary! It is wonderful to be able to walk around the school and be received by so many happy and upbeat ‘Hello Miss Mustoe!’ greetings from the children.
This week the children have been further developing their understanding and application of number and place value in Maths across years 1-6 at appropriate levels of challenges as well as reading inspiring stories in class. Our Year 3 students have also begun learning about Ancient Egypt and writing each other messages in hieroglyphics whilst, Year 5 have been focusing on newspaper reports and their features.
In assemblies and lessons this week, the children have learnt about genes and genetic disorders that affect children across the world. Then on Friday we further raised awareness by wearing jeans and raising money for ‘Jeans for Genes’ day. Thank you to parents for your support with this.
We have also held more workshops for parents this week – Key Stage One Maths workshops, Key Stage Two English workshops and Canvas and Ed-Tech workshops for Years 4-6 parents.
These workshops are a great way for you, as parents, to find out more about what and how we are teaching your child and how you can further support your child both at school and at home.
Next week, we are running Key Stage Two Maths workshops, Key Stage One English workshops, e-safety workshops and English as an Additional Language (EAL) workshops. Please do contact your child’s class teacher if you are unable to attend and they will be happy to share with you the presentations.
Next week also marks the start of our native language and internationalism classes and our ASA programme. We look forward to a restful weekend before another exciting and busy week ahead!
