This week in Early Years the children have enjoyed delving into their key class texts which have been carefully selected based on their interests and curiosities. They immersed themselves into the stories as they developed their imaginative play and creativity.
Pre-Nursery have been reading the book Goodnight Moon. They have been recognising circles in the environment and creating circles with chalk and water. They explored Loose Parts where they made patterns and towers using all things circular and round.
Despite the warm weather, Nursery have moved onto ‘Winter’ themed learning and vocabulary. They have been reading ‘One Snowy Night’ which is a story based on forest animals having nowhere to sleep on a snowy night! The children have enjoyed the adventures and actions of the animals in this story and have been acting out parts of this story in their Role Play.
Reception explored the North Pole as they boarded ‘The Polar Express.’ The children retold the story using actions and created their own story maps before immersing themselves into the story as they boarded The Polar Express this morning. They talked about what we could see and hear as the special conductors served them with delicious hot chocolate, just like in the story. Reception look forward to the adventures that await them next week.
