As we conclude our first term of the academic year, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the wonderful journey our children have embarked upon. This Autumn term has been filled with growth, exploration, and joy as they have settled into their new school environment. I am incredibly proud of how each child has adapted, demonstrating resilience and enthusiasm while making new friends and embracing the exciting experiences that come with being part of our Early Years at Britannica.
This term has been particularly busy and enriching. Our STEAM week allowed the children to engage in hands-on activities that sparked their curiosity, from simple experiments to creative projects. During Nursery Rhyme Week, they sang familiar rhymes, enhancing their language skills and creativity while fostering a love for storytelling and music. The children enjoyed various P.E. lessons, and Nursery class experienced swimming for the first time, gaining confidence and essential skills in the water. Our winter concerts showcased our little stars, who performed with such confidence, building their self-esteem and musical abilities. Additionally, events like the Pumpkin Palooza and the Winter Wonderland provided wonderful opportunities for the children to participate in community celebrations alongside their peers, teachers, and parents.
Each of these activities has significantly contributed to the children's understanding of language, their knowledge of the world, physical development, and creativity. They have been exposed to new vocabulary, concepts, and skills, laying a strong foundation for their future learning. As we move into the Spring term, we are excited to build on these experiences and continue nurturing the children’s growth and curiosity. Thank you for your continued support and involvement in your child's learning journey.
Pre-Nursery
This week in Pre-Nursery, the children have been improving their physical skills in the indoor playground. They have been practicing their gymnastics skills using the balance beams and working together with the parachute, which has also helped improve their listening skills. Additionally, the children have enjoyed various winter and Christmas crafts and have been singing many festive songs. We finished the term today with a lovely party together.
Nursery
As Nursery prepares for the festive season, the children have been busy creating Christmas decorations, which enhance their fine motor skills through activities like threading beads and gluing sparkles. They’ve also been using their gross motor skills by dancing to Christmas songs and playing on scooters in the indoor play area. This week, we enjoyed the story "One Snowy Night," which sparked discussions about staying warm in frosty weather, with the children sharing ideas about cosy clothing like fuzzy hats and thick scarves!
Reception
As we conclude the Autumn term, our Reception class has thrived through engaging indoor and outdoor play experiences. We embraced creativity with various crafts, reinforced our Phonics skills, and actively accessed learning provisions provided for the children. The term concluded in a joyful class party and a delightful movie in the theatre, allowing us to celebrate our achievements together.
