Art and Design at Britannica is a vitally important part of every child's progress in primary school education. Creatvity helps our students develop positive attitudes to creative thinking and creative subjects, which benefits future learning in secondary secondary school. Art as subject encourages our children to celebrate their own and others’ artistic experiences. In our weekly classes we try to build a sense of community in the classroom from an early age that helps to foster an openness to diversity as they experience art and design from different times and cultures.
In art there is no right answer and no wrong answer, simply the students answer. That said, it is important to develop the students observational skills when looking at spatial relationships and pictorial compositions. Through playful investigation our students learn to take risks and problem solve when things go wrong and how figure out how to fix them. Art in our primary school helps to develop concentration skills and perseverance – as our students explore different tools and materials, mastering their use to create beautiful objects and designs. These are important skills, necessary to excel in all other subjects.
By getting their hads dirty through drawing, painting, printing, cutting, glueing and sticking we create opportunities for expression through art promoting emotional development.
