We are excited to share the highlights from our recent STEM Week, where students engaged in a variety of hands-on activities that brought Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths to life.
In ICT, Year 7 students explored 3D modelling by designing virtual cookies, while Year 8 took their skills a step further by creating logos for their own cookie companies.
Over in Maths, Year 7 students studied Nets and Elevations to make 3D representations of cookie packaging, and Year 8 created comprehensive business plans for their cookie enterprises, considering factors like rent, wages, taxes, and ingredient costs for different countries, before presenting their findings in PowerPoint presentations. Year 9 focused on ratio and proportion, designing cookie recipes for various quantities and presenting their work in visually engaging posters.
In Science, Year 6 students explored the fascinating process of fermentation by baking bread rolls, while Year 7 investigated the nutritional value of cookies. Year 8 followed by creating healthier cookie recipes, and Year 9 students put their culinary skills to the test by baking their own cookies in the kitchen.
This week has been a wonderful opportunity for students to combine creativity with practical learning, and we look forward to more exciting educational experiences in the future.
