In 2025, we welcome the Year of the Yisi Snake, or Green Snake, symbolising agility, wisdom, vitality, and infinite possibilities. This year is also a Double Spring Year, featuring two Spring Festivals, which is seen as an auspicious sign of good fortune.

To celebrate this new year, we hosted our annual Chinese Cultural Week, offering a vibrant cultural experience for students, parents and teachers. The Secondary event kicked off with an energetic Dragon Dance performance, igniting everyone's enthusiasm. There were many stand out performances included drama segments, dance routines and the Lions dance. Following this, a Sichuan teahouse performance captivated the audience.

The musical segment featured a band that evolved from one to three groups, showcasing diverse styles including electronic and rock. While the Mandarin Department suggested older songs, students preferred contemporary hits like "Ordinary Road," reflecting their engagement with Chinese music. Notably, Band TRAY took on the challenge of performing a Chinese song, demonstrating their growth in language skills.

This event also served as an extension of classroom learning, with students researching and creating props for their performances. During Thursday's Day of the Snake I was please to see continued support from our Chinese parents which enhanced the experience, allowing the students to engage with Chinese culture through games.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all students, teachers, and parents for their contributions to making this week an enormous success. As we enter the Year of the Snake, we wish all our Britannica families good fortune, happiness, and prosperity in the festive spirit of the Chinese New Year.
