As we prepare for Earth Day on Tuesday, April 22nd, the Geography Department is excited to announce a week filled with activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness and action.

Earth Day is celebrated annually on April 22nd to inspire individuals and communities to engage in sustainable practices. Originating in 1970, it is now observed in over 190 countries worldwide. Our goal this year is to encourage small, individual actions that collectively make a big impact. Together, we can make a significant impact on our planet.

We encourage all students and teachers to participate in activities that promote sustainability. The canteen will only feature vegetarian options on the day to reduce meat consumption, as well as stopping the sale of plastic packaged items such as yoghurts and water bottles and encouraging more sustainable portion sizes to reduce food waste. Bring your reusable water bottle to school, use reuseable food packaging for home made lunches, and whenever possible, choose eco-friendly transportation like walking or biking to school. In lessons teachers have been challenged to go 'technology free' for the day to reduce electricity consumption and reconnect with life beyond technology.

Additionally, we will hold an Earth Day poster competition. Create a design that reflects your understanding of environmental issues, and winners will be announced on April 22nd.
