Literacy development is a cornerstone of education, playing a crucial role in shaping students' cognitive, social, and emotional growth. At Britannica, we prioritise literacy in our curriculum to ensure that all students have the tools they need to succeed academically and thrive in their future endeavors. To celebrate this commitment, we held our Primary Literacy Week, which was a tremendous success filled with vibrant activities that highlighted the joy of reading and storytelling. Students fully embraced the spirit of literacy, showcasing their creativity and enthusiasm throughout the week.

Each day kicked off with engaging literacy activities designed to spark curiosity and imagination. The excitement continued in the Key Stage assemblies, where we celebrated our student extreme reader winners and revealed our masked readers from the 'Guess the Teacher' house competition. The thrill of uncovering the identities of our masked readers added an extra layer of fun to the festivities!

In addition to our regular activities, we also celebrated World Book Day. Students dressed up as their favorite book characters, bringing beloved stories to life and fostering a love for reading. The joy of seeing everyone in costume was infectious!

We participated in the 'Drop Everything And Read' initiative, encouraging students to pause and immerse themselves in books at various times throughout the day. This initiative created a shared experience that highlighted the importance of reading.

The highlight of the week was our “Young Authors, Big Adventures!” story writing competition. Students submitted their stories to their class teachers, and the quality of writing was exceptional, making the judging process incredibly challenging.
