Our Britannica community came together beautifully during Culture Week, where students shared their unique cultural identities as part of our school's celebration of diversity. Each student contributed by creating their own puzzle piece, decorating it with symbols, colors, and images that represent their cultural heritage. When all these individual pieces were brought together, they formed a magnificent artwork that perfectly symbolizes our united yet diverse Britannica community. The event showcased various activities and traditional foods, allowing us all to appreciate and learn from our diverse backgrounds.
A very special thank you to our parents, always ready to take part in these special events and put a lot of effort into it.
The International Day was particularly special, as students had the opportunity to experience various language classes, broadening their global perspective.
World Language Department
At the beginning of this academic year our World Languages program had a new addition, Portuguese language led by Mrs. Pacheco. Her expertise has brought fresh energy and perspective to our department. The Brazilian community within Britannica has finally a place to come together learn the language and learn more about their own culture.
This past semester we had some highlights such as:
- Japanese Culture: Mrs. Asami organized an engaging mochi-making workshop, providing students with hands-on experience in Japanese cultural traditions.
- Italian Achievement: Our Italian language students have shown remarkable creativity and dedication this semester. They successfully launched their first edition of "Il Corriere della Britannica," their own Italian newspaper, with the second edition already in preparation. The students also participated enthusiastically in the annual Week of Italian Language “Settimana della Lingua Italiana” in October, where they deepened their understanding of Italian language and its rich literary traditions through fun activities.
- Hebrew Heritage: Our Hebrew class students enhanced their cultural understanding through meaningful holiday celebrations, including sharing the traditions of Jewish New Year with their fellow students.
Our commitment to maintaining high standards in native language instruction remains steadfast. We continue to emphasize both language proficiency and cultural awareness, encouraging students to share their heritage with classmates.
During the next weeks we will keep on organizing activities for the children to have the chance to explore in a more meaningful way what they are learning in their classrooms.
We take pride in watching our students grow in their language abilities while developing a deeper appreciation for global cultures. Thank you for your continued support of our World Languages program.
