It has been another wonderful week in Early Years. All of the children took part in preparing and cooking their very own Pancakes before enjoying them with their friends.
Next week we look forward to our Parent Teacher Meetings, as teachers it is important for us to work in collaboration with parents to share your child's progress, ensuring the best outcomes for every child.
Please see below the learning that has been taking place in each year group.
Pre-Nursery
This week our rhyme ‘Miss Polly had a Dolly’ has had Pre-Nursery exploring looking after a doll and the role of a doctor. Pre-Nursery identified where dolly is hurting, naming the parts of the body, and using our mark-making skills to place a cross on the correct body part.
Pre-Nursery have developed their understanding of caring for others through looking after our class dolls in the Doctor Surgery, and we were lucky enough to visit Nurse Lily to learn all about her role as a nurse in the school.
Nursery
It has been an imaginative week in Nursery this week. Everyone has enjoyed using Role-Play masks to engage in make believe play as well dress up costumes to enhance these experiences.
After reading ‘The Way Back Home’ Nursery have been discussing if they would like to visit the Moon, this has led to some wonderful use of new language and confidence in expressing thoughts and ideas.
Nursery also got busy in the kitchen again this week by celebrating Pancake day. Everyone helped to measure, chop and mix ingredients to make delicious pancakes.
Reception
In Reception this week the children have continued to develop their Phonic knowledge, applying this to their reading and writing. We have also had lots of fun in our Home Corner, making delicious pancake recipes with our friends whilst developing our spoken language. In Maths we have been collecting data and recording this in Tally Charts, Reception Class took this very seriously!
We very much look forward to celebrating World Book Day next week and look forward to seeing the children’s costumes.
