Dan was born and raised in the North of England. He studied at the Heriot Watt University, where he earned a Bsc in Mathematics. After graduating, Dan began teaching in Shanghai in 2017 and gained his iPGCE from Derby University. Dan is currently pursuing his M.Ed in Primary Education.
Dan also trained formally as an SEN (Special Educational Needs) teacher, while in Shanghai, China. Dan had experience in Bilingual School’s in China and worked as a Foreign Director at a Kindergarten. This experience led Dan to Britannica International School Shanghai, where he has been teaching for the past 3 years. In total, Dan has over 7 years of teaching experience.
At Britannica, Dan has taken on various leadership roles, including serving as the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and a Year Lead. Dan is also a qualified Football Coach and takes the role of leading our Britannica Knights KS2 and Secondary Teams. Dan employs a range of strategies to enhance student achievement in diverse settings, including culturally responsive teaching and inclusive curriculum design. He promotes collaborative learning and differentiates instruction to address various learning styles. Additionally, Dan engages in ongoing professional development and partners with well-known organizations to provide resources and support, creating an effective and inclusive learning atmosphere.
