Mairead was born and raised in Roscommon, Ireland. She studied at Dublin City University, where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Human Development and Irish Language. After graduation, she pursued further studies in Education in Glasgow, Scotland, earning a Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Education at master’s level from the University of Strathclyde. Mairead obtained her Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and subsequently taught in Dublin, Ireland.

In addition to her teaching qualifications, Mairead trained as a Dyslexia Tutor with the Dyslexia Association of Ireland and has extensive experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN). She recently completed a Special Education Diploma.

During her five years at Britannica, Mairead has assumed various leadership roles, including Maths Cross Phase Coordinator and her current position as Year 3 Lead. Overall, she has over seven years of teaching experience.

Throughout her career, Mairead has embraced a learner-centric pedagogy that addresses both the individual and collective needs of her students. She believes that education plays a vital role in nurturing a child's inner capabilities as they progress. In her classroom, she fosters an engaging environment for all types of learners, promoting a culture of hands-on, inquiry-based learning where student dialogue and questioning thrive.
