Welcome Message from the Principal
I am pleased to formally welcome you back to the 2020-21 school year!
I would like to extend a special welcome to all of the new families joining Britannica International School this year and welcome back all of our returning families as well! I am honored to be your Principal.
Our goal at Britannica International School, Shanghai is to work together to provide our students with a rich learning environment. Our shared vision, as the Principal, is to ALWAYS put the children first! My belief is that all students can, and will be given multiple opportunities, to learn. As educators, we need to discover how each child learns in order to differentiate our instruction to support our diverse international community. In a collaborative effort, we want our children to thrive in all ways possible.
My hope for the year is that all children will LOVE school and nurture a learning environment that is positive, safe, warm, caring, as well as a fun place to learn and grow.

Welcome Message to EYFS Students
Britannica EYFS is back with a bang!
The first day of the school year is always a big event for students. In Early Years this day is one of the biggest in their lives as some of them take the first step into their learning journey at school.
Today was a joyful and proud occasion for all EYFS students, parents and staff as the new academic year began. Our EYFS children entered school with great maturity with heads held up high and enthusiasm as eager early staff waited for their arrival.
As I walked around the department today it was wonderful to already see and hear the excitement and buzz of children making new friends, learning about their new year groups and being inquisitive learners through exploration.
What a fantastic way to start our year EYFS. The EYFS team and myself can not wait to see how you grow as learners this year.

Head of Early Years
Welcome Message to Primary Students
It has been delightful to welcome and see so many happy children coming into school today and generally around the campus.
This morning the children were greeted by their Form Teachers on the playground and it was lovely to see them enjoying meeting friends, new and old.
The children have been busy getting to know their teachers and classmates and understanding the expectations for the year ahead. Already I have had teachers remark to me what a delight their class is!
Judging by how successful and positive today has been I am looking forward to seeing how well the children learn and develop this year.

Welcome Message to Secondary Students
Today our Secondary teachers welcomed back our returning students and several new members of our Secondary school community.
The first day of the academic year is always a wonderful experience. It was a pleasure to see staff and students smiling, excited and motivated to return to school.
With a record number of students in our Sixth Form, Years 12 and 13, and our lower Secondary classes close to capacity, there was a real buzz of energy around the campus.
My personal highlight on the first day of school each year, is watching our new Year 7 students arrive wearing their brand new Secondary uniform. I am always amazed at how much these students mature over the summer holiday and this certainly was the case today! Well done Year 7, you were all immaculately dressed.
If the students and staff continue the way they have today, this academic year is well on its way to being a success!
