As we draw to the end of the Autumn term it is with great pleasure that I can reflect on such a successful and enjoyable term we have had in Primary. Last year’s experiences of teaching online in an empty school and awareness that not everywhere has the same fortune we have has made this term even more special as we have been very grateful to learn and teach together in person again. Furthermore, this term we have been able to welcome back many children who weren’t able to return last academic year as well as welcome new children and families to our school.

Regularly the teachers come to tell me how pleased and impressed they are with their classes; this applies from our youngest to our oldest pupils in Primary and everyone in between.

For instance, our Year 1 pupils have consistently demonstrated their enthusiasm and enjoyment at school, particularly in their recent Big Machine topic, and I know how much each of them is working hard to receive the highly coveted ‘Star of the Week’ certificate in assembly. (These are highly sought after certificates in each year group and if your child hasn’t got one this term do not worry we will be continuing to award them across the rest of the year too!)

Whilst Year 6 pupils have growth in independence and maturity this term and have also been making improvements in their academic learning as they transition towards Year 7 and secondary school. Mr Linsell and Mr Edwards have been really impressed by the children’s enthusiasm towards learning as the Year 6 pupils are always eager to learn and always willing to take on new challenges.

Despite some of the restrictions we have had in place this term we have still been able to enjoy class assemblies, dress up days, themed weeks, House events and much more.

I thank our teachers and staff for their tireless commitment to your child’s learning and enjoyment at school and to you, the parents, for your support with these events and our school community.

On behalf of the Primary staff we hope you have a happy and restful holiday and look forward to seeing everyone back in the new year refreshed and recuperates ready for 2021.
