As we draw to the end of the Autumn term it is wonderful to reflect upon the achievements of all the children in our EYFS. Each child has shown great enthusiasm towards their learning and we are very proud of them! We do hope that you enjoyed the Winter Concert on Monday, the children had learnt their songs and actions and took to the stage with great confidence.
Please do look at the fun learning that has taken place this week.
Pre-Nursery
Pre-Nursery performed wonderfully on Monday in their Winter concert and we are all extremely proud of them. In our final week of the Autumn term, Pre-Nursery have been celebrating Christmas and Winter through looking at small and big presents, making reindeer food and getting festive through many art craft activities.
Nursery
This week the children have continued to learn about the celebration of Christmas. The children learnt some new words relating to the festival and practised using these in context. Nursery enjoyed using the talk boards to ask Santa for a Christmas gift and were very enthusiastic whilst trying to write their names on Christmas cards. In Maths the children made some amazing candy canes using repeated coloured patterns and enjoyed travelling by train to Santa’s workshop in the outdoor area; what a magical week!
Reception
Wow! We are incredibly proud of Reception’s Winter Concert performance. The children worked so hard and I’m sure you will agree that their hard work paid off. They delivered a fantastic performance. We hope you enjoyed it! We have continued to review all of our Phase 2 letters and sounds this week and have been practicing reading and writing CVC words. We also used our Phase 2 letters and sounds we have learnt to create our own wish list for Santa. We completed various Christmas activities in Maths this week to consolidate what we have learnt this term. These included; Christmas addition, missing number candy canes, building our own interactive snowman and completing the Christmas patterns. In the theme of Christmas, we made our own snowflake catchers and decorated Christmas biscuits which the children absolutely loved. We also enjoyed our EYFS Christmas party. We sang songs, had a little disco and made our own Christmas party hats. Furthermore, we rounded off our food topic by making yummy guacamole and traditional Mexican lemon juice with our special guest, Mr. Ricardo. A fantastic way to end a brilliant Autumn term!
On behalf of all the staff in EYFS we hope that you have a happy and restful holiday and look forward to welcoming back the children in the new year.
