This week we continued to focus on nurturing the curiosity among our young learners. The children have had the opportunity to answer questions to encourage their creative thinking.
Pre-Nursery have been fully engaged in their new topic ‘On the Farm’. This week the children explored animals that live on the farm and practiced making farm animal noises. Pre-Nursery have enjoyed making muddy tractor tracks with paint and they have been developing their working together skills by building a house for the farm animals.
Nursery have continued with ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ story this week. The children have been building caterpillars out of lego and many other loose parts from the classroom. They have shown great creativity in their thinking of how they can represent caterpillars in different ways. There was also great excitement when we found a real caterpillar in the outside area. The children had the opportunity to observe the caterpillar over time and were fascinated by how many leaves it ate.
A very curious week for Nursery!
In Reception, outdoor space has been a wonderful source of learning and exploration for the children, and they have been enjoying watching the flowers grow while engaging in various activities. In Maths, we revisited British coins and their values, and they had fun figuring out which coins they would need to buy their favourite toys.
The children returned to school with great enthusiasm from the long weekend and shared their experiences with their friends and teachers. They were able to write about their experiences in their writing books, showcasing their growing sentence construction skills.
Overall, the children have been making great strides in all areas, including phonics, reading, and writing. We are very proud!
