It has been wonderful to be back in school this week and we have been making the most of the warmer weather by taking our learning outside and immersing ourselves in the wonders of the great outdoors.
Pre-Nursery have been captivated by the story of ‘The Hungry Caterpillar.’ Through this tale, they have embarked on an adventure, exploring the fascinating world of caterpillars and butterflies. Engaging in various hands-on activities, the children have developed their curiosity, imagination and early literacy skills.
Meanwhile, Nursery has been buzzing with excitement as they delved into the story of ‘What the Ladybird Heard.’ This tale has sparked their imaginations and encouraged them to explore the skill and bravery of a little ladybird. Through engaging activities, the children have learned about teamwork, problem-solving and the power of using their unique abilities to make a difference.
In Reception, the children have been honing their writing skills and expanding their knowledge of the natural world. They have been writing non-fiction captions about flowers, exploring their characteristics and beauty. This has not only strengthened their literacy skills but also deepened their understanding of the plant life around them. Additionally, Reception have been developing their understanding of halving, a foundational mathematical concept. Through hands-on learning experiences, they have been exploring how to divide objects and quantities in equal parts.
As we continue through the term, we will continue to embrace the wonder of the outdoors and integrate it into our curriculum.
