I hope this newsletter finds you well and that you are enjoying the start of 2024. After a well-earned Christmas rest, I know how exciting you all must be to return to school. I would like to share some updates, events, and opportunities within the English department this upcoming term.
Firstly, I am excited to announce that myself, Mr. O’Brien and Mr. Muzyczka plan to stage a theatrical adaptation of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency by Douglas Adams, which will be performed in front of a live audience towards the end of the academic year. This is a brilliant opportunity for students to hone their acting skills or be part of a long-term, collaborative experience. If anybody is interested in being part of the show, learning lines or simply challenging themselves to hone their acting skills, then please come and speak with the aforementioned teachers to discuss the possibility.
Secondly, the 4th floor library has just received its latest shipment of brand-new fiction and non-fiction books for students to read. They are a nice addition to our already impressive menagerie and I encourage you to take full advantage of the materials you have readily available at your disposal.
Lastly, I want to remind you about the vast amount of digital and physical resources available to you within Britannica. Alongside Teams, Century, Quizlet, Commonlit, Kahoot and CANVAS there really is no excuse for failing to complete tasks or broadening your knowledge. Furthermore, faculty members are always willing to provide guidance and support, whether it's regarding your classwork, homework, overall English abilities or personal writing projects.
Thank you for being an integral part of our English department community. We look forward to a term filled with intellectual growth, creativity, and collaboration. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any suggestions, ideas, or relevant news you would like to share.
