It has been an energetic and enthusiastic start to the new school year across all year levels at our school. From Year 1 to Year 5, our students have eagerly settled into their classrooms and reconnected with both new and familiar faces.
In the Primary School, the focus this week has been on establishing classroom routines and fostering positive relationships. Students have reviewed school rules and expectations, and had the chance to share about themselves through "All About Me" presentations. This has laid a strong foundation for the year ahead.
The Year 1 students, both returning and new, have been particularly busy getting accustomed to their new classrooms and classmates. On the first day, they participated in fun "get to know you" activities to introduce themselves. Throughout the week, they have become familiar with the daily routines and guidelines of Year 1.
Moving up to Year 2, the children have wholeheartedly embraced their learning across various subjects. In Maths, they have consolidated their counting skills, while in English, the focus has been on letters, sounds, and letter formation. The students have also embarked on an exciting History topic about travel and transport.
The transition to Key Stage 2 has been seamless for our Year 3 students. They started the year with engaging get-to-know-you activities, and have since explored the value of digits in Maths and conducted assessments in English. Science lessons have also been a highlight, as they learned about healthy and unhealthy foods.
Our new Year 4 students have returned to school with enthusiasm and eagerness. They have completed "get to know you" activities, collaborated to create class rules, and presented them in a poster format - a brilliant start to the year.
Finally, Year 5 students have settled in remarkably well, with smiles, laughter, and excitement for the new curriculum. They have enjoyed a range of English and Maths tasks, as well as familiarizing themselves with various online learning platforms.
Throughout the school, the joyful sounds of reconnection and new friendships being formed have filled the corridors. It is clear that our students are ready to embrace the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in the new school year.
