As we welcome the beginning of our Spring Term, we are excited to embark on this next journey with the children. This term marks not only a fresh start but also the upcoming Year of the Snake in the Chinese zodiac, a time traditionally associated with wisdom, intuition, and transformation.
As we dive into the Spring Term, we look forward to witnessing the continued growth of our children. We are committed to supporting their educational journeys, watching them develop intellectually, emotionally, and physically. Each day brings new opportunities for exploration and discovery, and we are thrilled to see how our children engage with their learning in exciting new ways.
This term will be filled with enriching activities, collaborative projects, and opportunities for personal growth. We encourage families to stay involved and support their children as they navigate this pivotal time in their education. Together, we can foster a nurturing environment that helps our students thrive.
Looking ahead, there is so much to be excited about! From upcoming events to new learning initiatives, we are dedicated to creating a vibrant and engaging atmosphere for all. Let’s embrace the spirit of the Year of the Snake and inspire our children to reach new heights.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Here’s to a fantastic Spring Term filled with growth, learning, and memorable experiences!
Reception has settled back in nicely this week. The children shared photos and stories from their holidays and enjoyed drawing pictures with captions about their experiences. We recapped Phase 2 sounds and tricky words, and the children practiced blending CVC words and segmenting simple words for writing. In Maths, we focused on telling the time to o'clock using both analogue and digital clocks. The children made their own analogue clocks, which helped develop their fine motor skills. This week, we read "The Snow Thief" by Alice Hemming, and the children enjoyed it. They’re excited to explore the story further next week.
Nursery has had a smooth transition back into school life this week. It’s been wonderful to see the children’s smiling faces as they reunite with friends and share their exciting holiday stories and photos. This week, we read “The Curious Polar Bear,” which has been popular with the children, sparking imaginative play and lively conversations. Inspired by the story, we’ve set up an Arctic-themed train journey in the small world play area of the classroom.
Pre-Nursery has had a wonderful time reconnecting with friends and enjoying plenty of play and communication this week. We began reading The Gruffalo, and the children loved joining in with the repeated words from the story. After a chilly walk in the garden, we collected leaves, twigs, and grass to create our own vision of The Gruffalo’s home.
